WTB fashion sense
I see a lot of the Professions are getting a lot of love lately. Cooking, specially, has been particularly awesome in Wrath of the Lich King, with cooks able to prepare feasts for raids that give excellent buffs. Engineering has been fun, too, although I have yet to see the schematic for my Harley Softail Hog. I’m curious about one thing, though… where are my shirts? With all the options to customize characters in the game — I mean, those barbershops are pretty neat — how come there aren’t any new shirt patterns?
There are over 50 different shirts in the game, 22 of which are tailored. The rest are uncouth styles that are simply too unfashionable for my needs. I’ve picked up enough Sleeveless T-Shirts in Alterac Valley to clothe an army. It makes me cringe to see Level 70 characters still sporting their original Thug Shirt. Let’s get some style, people! There are a good number of shirts to choose from, but frankly, we need Fall fashions for Wrath of the Lich King. I mean, the last great (and saleable) shirt pattern was the Rich Purple Silk Shirt. And that was from vanilla WoW.
Fashion in World of Warcraft has fallen

Pirate Loot Phriday: Foror’s Eyepatch
Yaaaarrrr maties, that scurvy-ridden deck-scrubber Schramm was made to walk the plank during the last plunderin’ voyage on the South Seas, so I, Capt’n’ Blackbeard, be here to tell yer about my favorite Pirate Loot in the game today. Ye may remember me from such posts as my Piratical quest guide, and if ye really want to dress up like a pirate, maybe ye’ll be interested in some Savory Deviate Delight. But enough high seas promotin’ — let’s get to this Epic eyepatch!
Name: Foror’s Eyepatch (Wowhead, Thottbot, Wowdb)
Type: Epic Leather Headpiece
Armor: 183
Abilities:
· Yaaar maties — this eyepatch increases yer Stamina by 19, which is good, because you’ll need as much Staminer as ye can manage to drink toe to toe with ol’ Blackbeard. O’course, +19 Stamina ain’t much now that ye’re sailing around the cosmos in Outland and such, but back when we pirates ruled the seven seas of Azeroth, it were plenty!
· It also increases yer

Around Azeroth: Beyond beta
Some people enjoy beta testing. Some people enjoy pushing the limits of what the beta is capable of. And some people, like Dawnstalker of The Forgotten Coast, enjoy getting caught in a lag storm and sneaking into what he states is a suddenly NPC-less Icecrown Glacier. Dawnstalker states that this area is called The Fleshwerks, and it seems to live up to its name. Who’s suddenly hungry for roasted chicken parts? I know I am! (Not really, but it definitely looks like a giant chicken factory.)
This image came to us straight from the Wrath of the Lich King beta — and we’d love to have your beta screenshots, too! If you have anything our readers might like, beta or not, sharing it is as simple as e-mailing aroundazeroth@wowinsider.com with a copy of your shot and a brief explanation of the scene. You could be featured here next!
Remember to include your player name, server and/or guild if you want it mentioned. We strongly prefer full screen shots without the UI showing — use alt-Z to remove it. No more battleground scoreboards, please.

Do hunters need straight answers? Blizzard says, “Maybe…”
Several other things are going on with hunter skillz which we’ve either already talked about or don’t seem to merit lots of discussion at the moment:
* Kill Command turned out to be too much of a passive damage boost for Blizzard’s liking, so they’re changing it to something a bit more proactive, but still less than amazing.
* Disengage now lets us do double backflips! (Well… all we’re promised so far is that it’ll make us jump back 10-15 yards, but I’m really hoping for some sort of cool animation on that rather than a simple jump.)
* Master’s Call and Deterrence will both be baseline abilities for hunters! Huzzah for survivability!
* Arcane Shot’s dispel effect gets kicked out for being overpowered and takes up residence with Tranquilizing Shot instead. Now you’ll have to actually think about dispelling things.
* Blizzard has hinted at “two new Hunter abilities that will help combat LoS [or Line-of-Sight for the acronymically-challenged] issues,” but there’s no word on exactly what those are yet. Could the new

More information on Achievements
So you’ve heard all about Achievements, the latest feature to be revealed from the Wrath of the Lich King. Blizzard’s official Achievements page mentions over 500 different Achievements that players can pursue. There seems to be an Achievement for everybody, depending on your play style and how you enjoy the game. MMO Champion and the WotLK Information Wiki both have comprehensive lists of all the Achievements currently in the Wrath Beta.
The lists are a great read if you want to plan out how you can go about completing those Achievements, from the simple tasks, such as completing five daily quests (worth 5 points), to the loftier goals such as defeating the 25-man Naxxramas with only 20 people (worth 50 points). Achievements are classified under different categories, such as General, which involve collecting vanity items or finishing “whimsical” goals; there is the Quest category for those who are obsessive questers; there are also PvP goals that involve specific tasks in the Battlegrounds or Arenas.
There are also subcategories per category, breaking down Achievements even more for those meticulous planners. The

Death Knight News: Rune swapping gone, Runeforging to be powerful
The introduction of runeforging to the Wrath Beta was a bit of surprise and slightly unexpected. Instead of rune swapping — the idea of being able to change the nature and configuration of the runes on your runeblade — Death Knights got a solid 2 Unholy, 2 Blood, and 2 Frost runes. Runeforging itself became a weapon enchantment system whereby Death Knights could enchant their weapon with various special procs and buffs for various situations.
There has as of yet been no sign of an ability to swap runes, and Jayde, aka Jadefury, recently asked if there were still plans for one. The short answer, according to blue poster Ghostcrawler, is no.
The long answer is perhaps a bit more complicated, and reinforces Blizzard’s stated goals with the Death Knight class role and the new runeforging ability.
On the subject of rune swapping, says Ghostwalker, they designed and balanced all the Death Knight skills and talents around the idea of a runeblade with the BBFFUU setup (That is, two of each rune type). While they could allow Death Knights to reconfigure their runes, it might lead to situations where the

Death Knight starting cinematic unveiled
.With Death Knights getting their own starting zone and their own heroic storyline, it was often wondered whether they’d share the same opening cinematic as their individual races. We have the answer now: They do get their own unique cinematic, shown above.
There’s two major things I took away from the cinematic. First, it gives a solid origin story for Death Knights: You were apparently slain in combat with the Scourge, but raised to become a Death Knight. So the ideal of the PC Death Knight seems to be a hero who was made an unwilling victim, which makes the fact that he or she is welcomed back by the Horde or Alliance possibly much more believable. As you awaken as a fresh level 55, you are also apparently still under the thrall of the Lich King, which should make for an epic newbie zone experience as you struggle to regain your freedom.
Secondly, the opening cinematic has a wonderfully ominous picture of Acherus, the Ebon Hold, home of the Death Knights, looming above Light’s Hope Chapel — a perfect setup for the coming war with the Scourge, that drives home how immediate the threat is.
Oh, and do be

World of Warcraft: Free to Play Origins
Blizzard SVP Rob Pardo gave listeners a shock in a GDC Paris Q&A session when he told them that World of Warcraft was slated to be free-to-play. Pick your jaw off the ground and see what he said:
“When were first going to make World of Warcraft, we wanted to make it free and advertising supported.”
However, the Blizzard exec noted: “We didn’t want to charge a subscription, but as we researched market conditions, we realized that wouldn’t support us.”
Guess the millions Blizzard has made over the years tells them they made the right decision. Still that’s news a lot of people could have lived without knowing
